Staff Nurse
The University of the West Indies, Mona, is seeking suitably qualified professionals to join our team in the capacity of Staff Nurse at The University Health Centre.
The Staff Nurse is expected to carry out nursing care procedures as part of the health care team by identifying risks for negative health events and intervene as appropriate. He/She will collaborate with other team members for positive patient care outcomes and provide supervision of the nurses station in the absence of the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing
- Certification as a Registered Nurse
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in general nursing.
Duties
- Registration and triaging of patients
- Administration and monitoring of oral and intravenous fluids
- Preparation of client and environment for aseptic procedures
- Administration of oral and injectable medication
- Assist in vision testing
- Assist in nebulization
- Assist in ear/eye irrigation
- Assisting with speciment collection for diagnostic testing
- Education and counselling of patients in areas such as Chronic illness, HIV/STI, Acute/Infectious illness, family planning, etc.

Note
Basic Life Support and Midwifery training would be an asset.
